South Bend, IN- The South Bend Area Genealogical Society will hold its 2017 Spring Conference on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the St. Joseph County Public Library, 304 S. Main Street, South Bend, IN. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. Admission is $15.00 at the door, $12.00 if you pay online. Discount given to youth who are members of 4H or the Boy or Girls Scouts.
This year’s conference features Tina Beaird presenting two programs:
- Courthouse Finds: Courthouses are great resources for personal family history. Probate files, chancery cases, land sales and lawsuits are just a handful of the types of records one can find in their local courthouse files. Join Tina for tip and tricks to identify and secure these records.
- Mapping your Migrating Ancestors: Our ancestors traveled as much, if not more, than we do today. Explore what types of maps and property records exist for pinpointing your ancestor’s whereabouts across the United States, from plat maps to Sanborn Fire Insurance maps to Google maps! Exhibitors and research assistance will be available all day.
A light lunch, snacks, soft drinks, and coffee will be available for a nominal fee. Additionally, several restaurants are in close proximity. Parking is plentiful, free at the Library, surrounding parking lots, and city streets.
